Volunteer Opportunities

Receptionists will answer the phone, help direct patients to clinics, and guide patients who have questions about enrollment or other areas depending on their needs. They may also be asked to assist with various administrative activities during their shift. Various shifts are available on weekdays from 8 am – 12 pm or 1 pm – 4 pm. A volunteer is welcome to take a shift as frequently as once a week or as infrequently as once every other month, depending on their schedule. Volunteers will be asked to complete an application form, sign a confidentiality and a photo release waiver, and complete a background check before volunteering.

Volunteers can either staff the café from 9 am to 11 am or drop off baked goods at 9 am to be distributed during the café. Good Day Café occurs on the fourth Thursday of each month (except for November, December, and March because of major holidays). Interested individuals can coordinate with the Development and Volunteer Specialist regarding which months are available and if the individual would like to bring baked goods, facilitate the café, or both.

The class occurs monthly on the first Tuesday from 1 pm to 3 pm. Past courses have taught participants how to use an oven and bake a birthday cake, pizza, and other American dishes. Each class has a translator to communicate with the refugees for the cooking demonstration. Volunteers will help assist the class leader in distributing materials, guiding the participants, and cleaning the work areas.

Volunteers will help set up and register for the Healing Hands Luncheon, which will take place in the spring of 2025. Stay tuned for more details.
